Misty has spent nearly two decades as an Executive Assistant, supporting eleven leaders across higher education and nonprofit organizations, including Deans, Senior Vice Presidents, and Chiefs of Staff. Her career has operated at the intersection of administration and development, where the stakes are high and precision is currency.
She is a student of two things: language and pattern recognition. In her view, these are the foundation of the executive assistant’s work. EAs read rooms, anticipate shifts, hold institutional knowledge, and construct the conditions inside which leadership becomes possible. That work is architecture. Her book, The Esoteric EA, out in October 2026, documents what she calls the esoteric knowledge of the EA role: the sophisticated, experience-built discipline that the seasoned EA recognizes immediately, and that shapes the reality of every person working inside the organizations EAs sustain.
